Toolden is a one-stop tool supplier to the UK and Scotland’s trade, government body, and DIY sectors.


To raise brand awareness and sales, the tool supplier relied on trade shows and the distribution of published marketing material for over 30 years.


That was until they launched their eCommerce store in 2016 and their internal team rolled out Google Ads to promote their now growth plateaued, 6-figure/mth store.


But launching a store while having limited time, and enough expertise to run ads came with a setback; a difficulty to grow their business.


That’s because even though they were generating sales from their ads by constantly putting more & more budget in, it came at a low return, stagnating revenues, and a threat to their margins.


And every time they decided to sit down and finally figure out what is and isn’t working in their ad campaigns, nothing added up because the data from different sources were painting conflicting pictures.


Giving them no confidence to test other paid media platforms even though they knew they were at the mercy of the Google Ads platform; its constant changes, disapprovals, and suspensions.

Example; one of the data sources over-reported revenue figures due to disapproved product orders feeding through.


In addition, the structural set-up of their Google Ad campaigns needed work and their Shopping campaigns were under-spending compared to the potential we uncovered it had.


We also identified that Microsoft Ads was an untouched opportunity for them to explore and diversify their paid ads strategy.
